Many tattoo artists will have 3+ tattoo machine setups so they don’t have to retune the machines between tattoo appointments. You also might want to get a few sets of flash so that you can have those ready for your portfolio and those tattoo clients who are not sure of what they want. If you are just beginning I would suggest either working on yourself, fake skin or a trusting friend. You never want to tell people that you are more qualified than you actually are and could end up ruining your reputation before it even begins. Another great method is by designing business cards and leaving them at your local head shops, record stores and anywhere that allows bulletin board postings.
